Beth Russell serves as the director of Shelter KC's Women's Center and is responsible for the program's leadership, development and implementation. She's passionate about the strategic growth of the Women’s Center and helping each woman who walks through the doors experience freedom from the past and view herself with God-given dignity.
As a licensed counselor, she often serves as an adjunct professor at MidAmerica Nazarene University where she contributed to the development of both the spiritual formation and trauma treatment training in the Master's in Counseling program. She also leads the Serenity Life Resource Center, a non-profit organization in Kansas City offering affordable counseling and equine-assisted therapy, as its founder and executive director. Serenity Life Resource Center partners with Shelter KC to provide equine-assisted therapy for the residents of the Women's Center.
For more than two decades, Beth has worked in several counseling, behavior interventionist, educational and ministry roles at a variety of nonprofits, schools and churches throughout the Midwest. Her passion for helping women and children through trauma has been woven throughout her life and each role she's taken on.
Beth holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies from American Christian College and Seminary, and both an M.A. in Counseling and M.A. in Organizational Administration from MidAmerica University.
She is a licensed clinical professional counselor in Missouri and Kansas, a nationally certified counselor, a certified clinical trauma professional, a certified play therapist and certified in sex addiction treatment professional , as well as a member of International Association for Trauma Professionals and the American Counseling Association.
