At Shelter KC, our goals are simple, but not easy. We strive to keep our guests encouraged, sheltered, fed, and safe. "Safe and responsible" guide every decision we make regarding our services, staff, and finances. One of the ongoing challenges we face is maintaining our supply levels, and we truly appreciate your interest in helping us meet these needs.

Drop-off Hours:
Monday through Friday
9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

If you need to drop off items outside of these hours or on weekends, please contact us and request to speak to an Admin Staff to make an arrangement.

Please note: we are closed on Sunday mornings.

Amazon Wishlist

Easily order from Amazon and have your donations shipped directly to Shelter KC. This saves you time and helps us better serve those in need!

Clothing

We accept men and women's new or gently used clothing. Underwear must be in unopened packages.

Toiletries

We accept any size, unopened toiletries.

Food

We serve three meals a day to our guests! Help us keep our pantry stocked by donating unopened, non-expired canned goods and non-perishable items.

Items We CANNOT Use

From time to time, a well-meaning donor will bring in donations we are unable to use. Some items don’t match the population we serve and other items may be broken, and we cannot make needed repairs. Below is a list of items we simply can’t use.:

  • Old, outdated electronic equipment (please call before donating any computer-related item)
  • Televisions
  • Beds, mattresses, bed frames
  • Sofa sleepers
  • Large appliances (stovetop ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.)
  • Used underwear
  • Used socks
  • Children’s items (clothing, toys, etc.)
  • Spoiled or expired food
  • Bars of soap
